The US Chess Women’s program has given seventeen non-profit organizations a generous sum to promote women in the world of chess, and SLEO was one of those select few. We believe that empowering young girls will be a huge step along the way to balancing out the gender gap in this sport. We cannot thank USCF enough for giving us this generous opportunity.

SLEO was honored to have Jeffery Xiong play a simul with our students to kick off our all-girls event. On October 12, we had twelve participants come to the Briarcliff Clubhouse for some games, milk tea, and tons of fun. This event was a great success and we can’t wait to host more. You can expect more specialized lectures and tournaments from us. SLEO plans to co-host a tournament with the WashU chess club sometime in December. More information is coming soon!

We would also love to extend a huge thank you to our volunteers, parents and players–everyone in the SLEO community. We couldn’t have made it this far without you!
