On Saturday, January 17th, a miniature snowstorm snowed outside, while inside, a heated battle to prove the superior chess players raged on. Out of 79 players, the 12 SLEO players Cayla Cheng, Yuang Xie, Charlotte Wang, Ethan Cheng, Howard Miao, Lisa Cheng, Xingyu Li, Isaac Zhang, Chester Yung, Jennie Liang, Andrew, and Evan Zhang fought fiercely in a merciless battle for the crown.
SLEO Chess coaches were also there to review games with players, an initiative that was started in 2023.
After the fighting was over, and the icy dust had settled, Cayla Cheng got top female for winning 3 out of 4 games in the K-6 section, Charlotte Wang won top female in K-12 for winning 2 out of 4 games. In K-6, SLEO won 2nd place for team section with an impressive 12 out of 16 points, tying with first place, but getting demoted by tiebreaks. In the K-12 section, SLEO got 3rd place in the team section, with 7.5 points.
Congratulations to all these fantastic chess players for a truly outstanding performance, and we hope to see them shine again for the 2026 Chess Carnival, on February 14th!
