On March 7th, 2025, SLEO participated in Passport Night at Old Bonhomme Elementary School, an annual tradition that brings the school’s international community together. This event celebrates diversity, cultural appreciation, and meaningful connections among students, parents, and educators. Families from various backgrounds gathered to share their traditions, experiences, and favorite international cuisines, creating an environment of cross-cultural learning and engagement.
Over ten SLEO students and parents enthusiastically volunteered at the event, leading a variety of interactive activities that interested attendees of all ages. Among the highlights were games such as chess, Chinese chess, and Go, as well as speedcubing. Volunteers demonstrated their skills, provided guidance to interested participants, and encouraged friendly competition. In addition, they took the opportunity to introduce SLEO’s educational programs, including its debate courses, chess club, and summer camp, sparking interest among both students and parents.
The two-hour event was a huge success, leaving everyone with new insights, skills, and friendships. Participants enjoyed the experience, promoting the importance of community involvement and cultural exchange. Looking ahead, we are excited to continue this journey at the upcoming Passport Night events at Reed Elementary on April 1st and Spoede Elementary on April 4th. We welcome enthusiastic volunteers to join us—sign up today to share your skills and make a difference!
