On Saturday, August 2nd, the Saint Louis Chess Club hosted the Dog Day Duels. Despite the beautiful weather outside, the heat was on inside as 10 SLEO players battled for a trophy, as well as bragging rights. 5 SLEO players in each section fought hard, with great results.
In the K-6 section, Yuang Xie claimed fifth place with 3 out of 4 points, while Jennie Liang snagged top female with 2 out of 4 points. Competition was fierce in K-6, and unfortunately, SLEO didn’t get a team trophy in that section, although still managed an impressive 8.5 points in total.
In the K-12 section, Charlotte Wang got top female with 2 out of 4 points, and Chester Yung got top unrated with 1 out of 4 points.
SLEO reigned triumphant in the team section, claiming the second-place trophy with 8.5 points.
Even though the trophies are nice, working hard and fighting as hard as you can in the tournament is difficult, so let’s recognize everyone who played in this tournament! In the K-6 section, the mighty warriors were Yuang Xie, Louis Chen, Jennie Liang, Lucas Liu, and Xingyu Li. The brave fighters in the K-12 section were David Huang, Kyle Huang, Howard Miao, Charlotte Wang, and Chester Yung. Congratulations to all of these chess stars!
