SLEO Students Shine in Chess Competitions at WashU

On Saturday, December 7th, SLEO partnered with the WashU Chess Club and hosted two chess tournaments at Washington University in St. Louis. Sixteen participants competed in two tournaments, including its first all-girls competition. Also featured was the Scholastic Chess Tournament, a competition open to all chess enthusiasts. Participants took part in a total of three rounds each, facing off against other contenders. The tournament was a great opportunity for junior chess players to present their chess skills and compete for awards.
SLEO players gave their best in this tournament, and with outstanding results to show. In the all-girls competition, Charlotte Wang came in 3rd place, with a total of two points. In 2nd, Jennie Liang won two of her three games. Finally, Alice Chang was victorious in all three of her games, securing her 1st place in the all-girls tournament.
The Scholastic Chess Tournament also yielded great results. With two points, Max Zvolensky was awarded 3rd place. In 2nd place was Ryan Wu, who won two of his three games. Lastly, Stefan Marin who won all three of his games, was the victor of the Scholastic Chess Tournament.
This fun tournament showcased the brilliant minds of the chess players who competed. Congratulations to all participants!
